Intro

Dear Readers,

we noted some confusion concerning the concepts of the "Solidaritätskomitee Italien" and the "Ausbruch/BreakOut", its instrument for communication. Hereby we want to settle this:

The solidarity committee wants to act as an international point for technical coordination with the main purpose to give an answer to the construction currently ongoing in Italy against a part of the anarchist scene. But what does this mean - an international point for technical coordination? We understand ourselves as a structure with access to some technical means like telephones, fax machines, lists of lawyers and prisoners etc. with the purpose to spread information we get as fast as possible on an international level. Thereby we want to make it possible for the comrades we are coordinated with to diffuse such information in their country to appear in public - by means adequate to the respective individual or group.

As we don't think much of bourgeois media we, in general, obtain our information directly from the comrades concerned or their respective comittees and media, or from other credible comrades of concerned scenes. In rare cases we have to use the bourgeois press we explicitly explain our source.

This, however, explains why we deal with some incidents in a more intensive way than we do with others. We don't want to publish information just for filling up the paper. Not least we want to deal with those we are coordinated with to find out about common lines of action and an existing or not-existing affinity.

Responsibilities in the committee are completely individual ones, i.e. each one looking after postal contact to prisoners, forwarding infos and dealing with other structures acts individually and is in an individual responsibility for what he/she writes. Its entirely up to him/her when to come and when to leave. Each individual's acting is based upon technical arrangements (i.e. who is contacting whom, without the duty to judge himself for the contents of the respective contacts) and existing knowledge of certain languages only. There are no plena, no group, no programmes, no platforms, neither there is any supervision, protocol, accounting or regulation.

The connections amongst the comrades caring for the technical problems of the solidarity committee are based on mutual trust, respect and seriousness and thereby a partly expression of the concept of affinity. The same circumstances are true in our contacts to comrades and structures, we are coordinated or in touch with.

The purpose of the "Ausbruch/BreakOut" newsletter is, to an extent possible for us, to give an overview about repressive incidents mainly in Europe and mainly against anarchists. Some of the outlined incidents leave this frame. Nevertheless we report about those, to realise what happens in different scenes (autonoumus, communist, anarchist) and whether to draw parallels.

As the focal point of the "Ausbruch/BreakOut" is Italy we found it suitable to go deeper into the Italian context. That's why we reprint articles of the anarchist weekly Canenero (which meanwhile doesn't exist anymore) and of other Italian anarchist newsletters like L'evasione. With this insight we want our readers to be able to realise what makes the Italian state upset like this and what it calls "criminal". The fact that we translate and publish articles of newsletters like those and papers of prisoners doesn't mean we agree with them to a 100% degree. We decide whether or not to publish an article according to the following criteria:

We try, according to our means and our possibilities, to support each anarchist in the docks or in prison. This we reckon being part of a Solidarity in Action with people with similar ideas. We publish each information concerning arrest and criminalisation of anarchists and their structures, but that doesn't mean we want to deal with each of their lines of actions. As individualists we are dancing along our lives - with whom he/she dances is up to any of us based on individual decision.

We want to ask those english and german speaking comrades who did translations of articles (as one can see in the Internet) to get in contact with us to prevent multiple translations of articles, as well as we want to get in touch with English comrades that are in contact with the prisoners.
